From early childhood education to senior secondary level: the first half of the school year was filled to capacity with our educational programme. Whether individual classroom sessions, visits to early learning centres, clean-up activities, project weeks, or our sustainability working group – it has been a diverse and inspiring period.
We are consistently impressed by the level of attentiveness and openness displayed by the students. Many schools are already implementing excellent initiatives: second-hand clothing drives and swap shops are highly popular, and numerous young people – including very young children – are making a conscious decision to adopt a diet free from fish and meat. Empathy and the desire for species conservation are frequently the central motivating factors.
Discussions regarding consumption patterns, particularly concerning plastics, are also an integral part of our visits. In doing so, we collectively take a critical look at what we often refer to as the "pony farm of recent years" – our historical handling of resources.
A shift is occurring!
We are impressed by the next generation – by their awareness, their determination, and their ideas. The willingness to change is present – and that provides reason for optimism.
