ElasmOcean has joined the Active Civil Society Initiative (Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft), an initiative for transparency among non-profit organisations. This promotes a greater level of information transparency, which we provide voluntarily, and which goes beyond the statutory disclosure requirements for non-profit organisations in Germany.
ElasmOcean is also registered in the EU Transparency Register (REG 6905455105381-58).

The statutory purpose is realized non-violently and sustainably, in particular through the execution of scientific events and research projects, the awarding of research contracts, public relations work, and the education of youth and adults on sensitive interactions with the environment, particularly regarding sharks and the marine ecosystem. The association regards itself as professionally competent, sustainable, innovative, and reliable, securing this through the voluntary work of all members and bodies. The association is non-partisan, non-sectarian, and ethnically and ideologically independent. It strongly opposes racist, unconstitutional, and xenophobic endeavours, as well as other discriminatory or inhumane practices. It respects social, gender, and generational equity.

The Finanzamt in 40721 Hilden has, continuously since our founding and most recently by notice of assessment dated 17.10.2024, established that we promote the non-profit purpose of 'promotion of environmental protection, including climate protection (§ 52 Abs. 2 Satz 1 Nr. 8 AO)' and are therefore authorised to issue donation receipts for donations made to us for use towards these purposes and for membership fees.

ElasmOcean e.V. is independent under corporate law and is not bound to any third party. There are no parent or subsidiary companies, no supporting associations, no spun-off commercial operations, and no partner organisations. Insofar as ElasmOcean cooperates with other organisations, this does not constitute the establishment of a corporate-law entity or association.
