It is climate change that is increasingly causing us difficulties. During the heatwave in June with temperatures of up to 41 °C, statistics show that 5,120 people died of heat-related causes in Germany. And if the forecasts for this summer are to be believed, this could be just the beginning.

Heat is no longer merely a question of personal comfort. It affects our health, our cities, our nature and our ecosystems. Elderly people, children and individuals with pre-existing health conditions are particularly at risk.

Yet the consequences extend far beyond humans: forests suffer from drought, water bodies warm up, habitats change, and numerous species are coming under increasing pressure. Our oceans are not spared either. Rising water temperatures, marine heatwaves and increasing acidification are altering marine habitats and threatening biodiversity.

Climate change is no longer a question for the future – it is happening today. Every avoided greenhouse gas emission counts. Climate action means not only preserving our environment, but also protecting our own basis of existence.
