Since 2025, ElasmOcean has been working in close cooperation with Hannes Jaenicke's Pelorus Jack Foundation. The Pelorus Jack Foundation pools resources and creates synergies to advance marine and nature conservation.

We have now successfully expanded this network to include two further organisations: the "Angel Shark Project: Canary Islands" and the "Ghost Net Recovery Int." project.

Both organisations are actively engaged in marine conservation:

For over 10 years, the "Angel Shark Project", led by Dr Eva Meyers, has been researching angel sharks (Squatina squatina) in the Canary Islands to improve the protection of this species based on scientific evidence.

Sabine Kerkau and her team from the "Ghost Net Recovery Int." project retrieve ghost nets from depths of up to 100 metres, clearing the ocean of traps that would otherwise persist for centuries, threatening marine life.

Like us, the Pelorus Jack Foundation supports research in the Canary Islands and the provision of education on species conservation and marine pollution. Being active within such a network is a valuable asset.
