Last Sunday, it was that time again: the Sharky Sportsclub in Köln-Lövenich was spontaneously transformed into a marine conservation centre.

One thing was clear right from the start of the first group: we were dealing with seven-year-old experts. The shark fins we brought along were assessed with great precision and expertly identified as cases of finning. The explanation of photosynthesis in algae was also highly accurate, and various shark species were confidently identified. The only brief moment of hesitation occurred regarding the diet of the sea otter: "They eat those spiky things, don't they?"

Our young experts can be forgiven for not immediately naming the sea urchin. We were therefore still able to impart some new knowledge along the way – and, of course, the fun in the water with our Haidemarie was not neglected either.

All in all, a successful marine education day in Lövenich.
