Sustainability and Football - an Afternoon with SV Waldhof Mannheim 07

The 14th of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is: "Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development." The football club SV Waldhof Mannheim 07 is committed to this goal and invited and supported ElasmOcean.

On the day of the club's 119th anniversary in early April 2026, we were in the "Quadratestadt" with a five-member team and presented our message at the main entrance of the Carl-Benz-Stadion during the 3. Liga match against MSV Duisburg. A total of 13,511 spectators attended in bright sunshine - and many ended up donating the deposit from their beverage cups by throwing them into wire collection bins. In this way, over 1,200 euros were raised for our work, which is a remarkable rate.

Even though the luck of the game was against Mannheim and the visitors from the Rhine-Ruhr region won decisively 1:4, it was a pleasant and, for our team in the sun, relaxed afternoon in Mannheim.

Sporting regards to Mannheim - for sustainability!
