🍓 Strawberry season at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Monheim am Rhein 🍓 "Did you know that there is a cookiecutter shark?" - "Then there must surely also be a strawberry shark🍓🦈? Or a strawberry seahorse🍓, a strawberry octopus🍓🐙?"
We spent three days with Year 6 classes at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Monheim. In June. Unsurprisingly, seasonal phenomena found their way into our lessons: the children conjured up a rather unusual fauna on the marine poster. There were no limits to the young people's imagination, allowing creativity to run wild and produce new species.
The result is a highly successful poster containing numerous facts, alongside suggestions on how to protect the marine environment.
The outcome of a project week that was not solely focused on sharks. The deep sea had also captivated the students, prompting a virtual excursion to those depths. Three days with our presenters Lara, Rike and Jörn, accompanied by school dog Charky, covering a wide range of marine conservation topics: the deep sea, marine plastic pollution, sharks, northern gannets, and how we can save the oceans.
The students were outstanding and incredibly eager to learn. A return visit for 2025 has already been agreed.
