🍓 Strawberry season at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Monheim am Rhein 🍓 "Did you know that there is a chocolate shark?" - "Then surely there must also be a strawberry shark🍓🦈? Or a strawberry seahorse🍓, a strawberry octopus🍓🐙?" We spent three days with Year 6 at the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium in Monheim. In June. Unsurprisingly, seasonal phenomena found their way into our lessons: the children conjured up a rather unusual fauna on the marine poster. There were no limits to the teenagers' imagination, allowing creativity to run wild and create new species. The result is a very fine poster with many facts, and with suggestions on how to protect the ocean. This was the outcome of a project week that was not only about sharks. The deep sea had also captured the pupils' interest, so we undertook a virtual field trip there. Three days with our speakers Lara, Rike and Jörn, accompanied by school dog Charky, covering many different topics on marine conservation: the deep sea, plastic in the ocean, sharks, northern gannets (Morus bassanus), and how we can save the oceans. The pupils were simply excellent and incredibly eager to learn. A repeat event for 2025 has already been agreed.
