Global dive tourism has both positive and negative aspects. Benefits include holiday, recreation, experience and a change of environment, as well as the economic strengthening of the regions. The primary disadvantages are littering and further global warming. Neither travellers nor tour operators or local tourism providers can completely eliminate these disadvantages for nature. However, we can all try to limit the damage as much as possible: by travelling and diving with decency.

ElasmOcean has compiled some advice and tips, offered as a minimum standard for sustainable and decent dive tourism, as "best practice".
