When a global player focuses on sustainability, this is generally to be welcomed. Electronics companies are normally rather unlikely to eschew plastic products - unlike Schneider Electric. The globally active corporation was recently named the "world's most sustainable company" in the Global 100 Ranking by Corporate Knights and won the Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis 2022 der Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. in 2021 as the winner in the Climate transformation field.
We took a closer look: the group is pursuing quite ambitious goals, including carbon neutrality within its operations by 2030. What particularly caught our attention, however, is that Schneider Electric has a switch range made from recycled plastic in its portfolio: 50% of the material comes from old fishing nets, which are processed into granulate and thus serve as the base raw material for new plastics.
During the presentation of the "Ocean Plastic" programme at the Internationale Funkausstellung IFA 2022 in Berlin, ElasmOcean explained to the trade audience in several presentations the implications of plastic in the ocean. Shortly afterwards, we continued this new collaboration with another presentation at the company's internal Sustainability Day.
